OpenGnothia iOS Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 16, 2026
1. Scope and developer
This policy applies to OpenGnothia for iOS, including its OpenGnothia Pro subscription. The developer is Emirhan Durusoy. The macOS app and this website have separate privacy policies. The iOS app requires no registration, email address or user account.
2. Records on your device
Your journal entries, dreams, mood records, reflection sessions, session notes, analyses, onboarding answers and preferences are stored on your device. The app does not automatically sync these records to an OpenGnothia account or content database. Device backups you enable through Apple may include app data under your Apple backup settings.
3. AI requests leave your device
When you use an AI feature, the text needed for that feature is sent over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker, which forwards it to OpenAI and returns the response. Depending on the feature, this can include your message, session history and notes, profile or intake answers, journal or dream content, and related context. This content may be sensitive. Voice features also send your recording for transcription; spoken replies send reply text for speech generation. These transfers are necessary to provide the AI features. You can use manual journaling, mood tracking, meditation and breathing without invoking AI.
4. Server processing and retention
Our proxy does not maintain a database of your journal, recordings or conversations, and its application logs do not record request or response content. It processes content to forward your request. Cloudflare provides the hosting and network infrastructure. OpenAI processes the content under its API data policies; provider retention and security processing are governed by those policies. We do not promise that these providers retain no data. Providers may process data outside your country.
5. Subscriptions and service usage
Apple handles payments. RevenueCat processes purchase and subscription information, including product identifiers, transaction and receipt information, entitlement status, and an app user identifier generated for the installation. OpenGnothia does not receive your payment card details. Our server uses the RevenueCat identifier to verify Pro access and temporarily stores entitlement status and usage counters to enforce service limits. Entitlement results are cached for up to one hour; daily counters expire after two days. These records contain no journal or session content. Subscription providers may retain transaction records under their own policies and legal obligations.
6. Permissions and tracking
Microphone access is requested when you choose a recording feature. Optional Face ID or device authentication protects access to the app; the app does not receive your biometric data. You can revoke permissions in iOS Settings. The mobile app contains no advertising or advertising tracking, and does not use an analytics SDK. Local audio files are used while processing voice features.
7. Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete journal and dream entries within the app. Deleting the app through iOS removes its local app data; offloading it keeps that data. Manage device backups separately through Apple. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription: manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, restrict or object to processing, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us for requests about data processed by our service. Apple, RevenueCat and OpenAI handle requests concerning data they control under their respective policies. Do not send private journal content in a public GitHub issue.
8. Children, safety and policy changes
OpenGnothia is not intended for children under 13. It is a reflection tool, not medical care, diagnosis or treatment. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional. We will update the date on this page when this policy changes.
